(PRWeb) January 19, 2007 -- The world's top golfers are set to gather in Bermuda this year for the PGA grand slam, which will feature an impressive showcase of talented players.
Last year, with $1.25 million (about £63 million) in the purse, the stakes were high at the Hawaii culmination, which saw golf ace Tiger Woods winning the title for the seventh year running.
Winners of the Masters, US Open, British Open and PGA Championship will be automatically entitled to compete in the 2007 competition.
"Bermuda has long been known as a golfer's paradise, worthy of the best players in the world," said Bermuda's tourism minister Ewart F Brown, JP, MP. "For an island with more golf courses per square mile than anywhere else in the world, this tournament will showcase Bermuda as a world-class golf destination."
The tournament will be in Bermuda from October 16th to October 17th and will be hosted by the Mid Ocean Club and the Fairmount Southampton.
The 6,520-yard course was designed by Charles Blair Macdonald in 1921 and modified by the late Robert Trent Jones Senior in the 1950s.
